Episode 26: Wholefood Family

Something a little different this week as we sat down with the lovely Jane from The Wholefood Family to chat all things fermented!

The beautiful Jane is a local legend here in Newcastle, running popular, practical fermenting workshops, selling her first book and supplying us with the deliciously healthy beetroot kvass.

It was inspiring hearing Jane's story of how her business evolved, organically, from her very own kitchen, motivated to heal her son after researching that gut health could be the answer.

Jane educates us about what fermented foods and drinks actually are, how they help improve our gut and overall health and even shares a simple ferment for you to try at home!

Equal parts interesting and entertaining, we were so grateful to Jane for this chat.

Episode 25: Jacque & Jonnie Halstead from Wanderlust

We were stoked to chat with Jacque and Johnnie Halstead, directors of Wanderlust Australia and New Zealand on this episode!

If you follow us on social media, you would have seen our stories, photos and excited live videos being broadcast from Wanderlust Sunshine Coast each year. 

Jacque and Johnnie take us into the story of how Wanderlust originated in the US and how they became involved in this unique, mindful living movement.

Episode 24: Shaun Swadling

This week's guest has a SUPER unique story and we are grateful he was willing to share it with us.

Shaun Swadling is an elite trampoline gymnast, who happens to hail from our home town of Newcastle, and used to be one of Cat's gymnastics coaches (and is still a good friend). 

An incredible exploration into the world of an athlete at the top of their game, Shaun has a remarkable tale to tell, as well as a wealth of information to impart on us.

Without giving too much away, Shaun had to draw upon his sharp and focused mindset, along with a range of other tools and support networks, to make one of the biggest recoveries the sport has ever seen.

This chat WILL blow your mind and most certainly make you think twice about how you would react if you were ever in Shaun's shoes!

Inspiring, brave, honest and open-hearted, this is an episode you can't afford to miss.

Episode 23: Dr Dov Pine

Our special guest on this week's episode is Dr Dov Pine, Cat's chiropractor and all-round wise guy about all things mindful living and wellness.

It was fascinating to sit down with Dov and learn about his journey from growing up in Georgia, to studying and meeting his wife in Israel, to eventually relocating to here in Australia.

Dov takes a more holistic approach to his treatments, incorporating elements of NET (neuro emotional technique), ayurveda and applied kinesiology.

If you're wondering what the HECK all this means, don't worry, we asked Dov to breakdown these concepts for you and explain the intention and philosophy behind chiropractic care. 

We dive pretty deeply into energetic concepts in this chat as well..Actually, looking back it's probably one of our more serious and focused interviews yet!

Episode 21: Julie Michels

We were honoured this week to chat to holistic bookkeeper, energy healer and one of our beautiful TFY students, Julie Michels.

Julie took us on her intriguing and inspirational journey from experiencing her first spiritual moment at age sixteen, through to her awakening with depression and gut issues to where she is today, and what the future holds.

We were enlightened with Julie's approach to how she lives her life and her deep connection with herself that she has cultivated through meditation, yoga, healing modalities such as kinesiology and prioritising self care.

If you are unsure of what "listening to your gut" feels like or how to start being more intuitive, Julie gives some really simple and well articulated tips on this too!

Such an amazing, grounded soul to have on the show, we know Julie's energy will shine through to you and hopefully inspire you to make positive change in your life.

Episode 18: Nathan Leigh Jones

We were so grateful to have the chance to sit down with the beautiful Nathan Leigh Jones on this episode, fellow podcast host (Pop Psych), psychology student, musician, voiceover artist and all around rad human.

NLJ goes deep with us about the evolution of himself, what he has learnt so far in his self-explorative journey and how he plans to share this knowledge and wisdom with the world.

This episode goes into detail about his "coming-out" story (or as he likes to put it, his actualisation) and how this sparked him to step into his true self.

Episode 17: BUF Girls - Shelley & Britt

It's all about GIRLPOWER this week on the show, with the gorgeous BUF Girls (Newcastle/Lake Macquarie/Maitland) owners and fitness trainers Britt and Shell.

We are grateful for these girls as they bare all with us on this episode, sharing their stories and struggles and how they inspire their "girls" with their own life experiences.

The authenticity and genuine nature of both girls shines through in this chat (and their business) and this is what we love so much about them!

There is so much wisdom imparted, especially about the girls using their fitness sessions as a "vehicle" to promote positive body image, community spirit and realness.

As Shelley said during this episode, "Move your body to shift your mind!".

Learn how the BUF girls motivate their tribe to reframe negative thought patterns and see movement as fun, not punishment. And how they view the influence of social media on us (as women) and the wellness industry as a whole.

This week we had the pleasure of catching up with Mr Marcus Pearce, podcast host (Your Exceptional Blueprint), podcast co-host (100 Not Out), creator of The Exceptional Life Blueprint program and CEO of The Wellness Couch.

Marcus is wise beyond his years (only 35!) and we have an amazing discussion about all things life purpose and living your best life.

He leads us through his life journey and what he has learnt about living his best life and how he shares these learnings with others.

Marcus believes in living with purpose and that "it's not what you do, it's how you do it" which we absolutely love and subscribe to. And tenacity is key, as we talk about!

This podcast will help you put things into perspective, maybe look at where your priorities and focus are at and how you can shift your behaviour to create your best life.

Episode 15: Renee Wilkinson

This week we connected with the gorgeous goddess Renee Wilkinson - Kinesiologist, intuitive and meditation guide.

Renee came into our lives only a short while ago, but has had such a massive impact on us that we have brought her on board as our "third foot", now teaching a weekly meditation class for us, with much more to come in the future!

In this podcast, Renee speaks about how she first became engaged in energy work, from seeing and feeling things from a young age to then getting an education from her Mum's meditation teacher. 

Renee shares her story of how she became disconnected to this huge part of herself, receiving a huge wake up call in the process, to then coming back to her true self with more confidence and beliefs than ever before!

We get Renee to divulge some tips on how so we can all start bringing this intuitive sense into our daily lives and connect more deeply with our own energy, something to jot down and come back to again and again. 

Renee is insightful, engaging and authentic and we were truly honoured to have her on this podcast episode, as well as in our lives!

Episode 14: Emma & Carla Papas

Strap yourself in for the biggest burst of bubbly energy with this week's podcast guests Carla and Emma Papas (The Merrymaker Sisters).

In a macadamia shell (their words, love it), the girls help people live happier, healthier lives through healthy recipes, simple mindset switches and finding and following their bliss.

Carla and Emma took a huge dive into their business from their corporate jobs back in 2014, sharing wholefood recipes from their own personal journeys into living healthier lifestyles. 

The girls talk through the path they followed out of these jobs to where they are today - Bloggers, podcasters, cookbook authors, app creators

They are super inspirational and have a clear message, which we subscribe to as well - Find what you love and do it and don't be afraid to get a little uncomfortable to get where you want to be. 

We loved their take on self-talk, how they both experienced years of putting themselves down and wasted so much time "stuck in their heads", especially with negative eating patterns. 

So many women (including us) can relate to these struggles and how they have come out the other side through dedication to changing their mindsets and moving to a real food way of life.

We wanted to sit down and chat about an article that went completely viral this week - "Bullshit, You Aren't Living" by Janne Robinson.

This article really resonated with us and we thought it would be fun to riff on it with you. 

Our intention is to inspire you to think about what you do day to day and ask yourself, "IS THIS SERVING ME?". As in, does this fill my cup/make me happy/fulfill my desires (not just my needs)?

We dive into all different angles, from numbing out (with TV/phones/social media), how to transition into being an entrepreneur, taking "little leaps" towards your goals and dreams, discovering not just your passion but also your play and so much more...

Excuse our little freakout towards the end as we thought our recording stopped (hence the silence).

Episode 12: Willis Johnston (Flying Heart Flow)

Willis Johnston joins us on the podcast this week, a beautiful yogi, dancer and choreographer who radiates joy and enthusiasm wherever he goes!

Willis is originally from the US but now mostly lives in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he teaches and co-ordinates yoga retreats aiming at exposing the beauty and culture of Mexico to yoga-loving foreigners.

We are grateful to Willis for his honest and inspirational words as he shares his emotional journey from professional dancer for Cirque du Soleil to starting his yoga teacher journey in Mexico with Anna Laurita from Davannayoga (where Cindra also trained), to where he is today.

Willis has a poetic and beautiful way with words as he weaves us through his aspirations for the future and where he draws his courage and passion from to pursue his dreams.
